KEEP-UP the GOODWILL UPHOLD Gamit-Eskwela, Alay sa mga Bata 2009

SOMETIME in September 2008, during the budget briefing of the House of Representatives, DepEd Secretary Jesli Lapuz said- “Our budget is not adequate to address our needs. It is even aggravated by inflation, the cost of construction materials are rising. Even if it’s the biggest allocation to a government department, DepEd’s P167 billion is only about half of what the department asked (P259 billion) to address the needs of the agency.”

From their own calculation, these would means that there will be no funding for the seats of 3 million pupils, for 33 million textbooks and instruction materials and for over 1,500 additional classrooms needed. Repeatedly, DepEd complain that their budget is never enough to meet even the most basic needs of public school students.

BUT HEY! haven't you heard the noodles scam, textbook scam, computer and CD scams. SO YES, defenitely DepEd fund fall short to what is needed, but with most of the government projects, associated with "TONGPATS" and "COMMISIONER", the budget could always be much lesser than half of pupils needs.

Every year, billions of pesos from peoples' taxes are legally spent for government projects in the name of public interest. But why having two classes in one room, like in (Guimba) Bertese Elementary School, Banitan Elementary School, Narvacan Elementary School. Neither the teacher are having hard time to teach nor the pupils to study or both.

Moreover, record of absenteeism leading to drop-out are common to grade school students who are lacking of pad papers, note books and other school needs. Negligence from the part of the family are to be blame, but government perpetual shortcomings to address the cause of POVERTY, propelled the deprivation of children, numbering to millions, of their RIGHT TO EDUCATION.

SAVE THE CHILDREN, KEEP THEM IN SCHOOL !
