SAN Jose City, Nueva Ecija -- Robbers hit the jackpot when they held up a gasoline station and carted away its six-day New Year holiday collections amounting to P1.4 million in a daring heist Monday afternoon.

The Petron gas station in Barangay Malasin, which is said to be owned by Mayor Marivic Belena and her husband, former Mayor Alexander Belena.

Supt. Sidney N. Villaflor, city police chief, said the robbery occurred at 2:55 p.m. while three gas station personnel were inside the main office counting the collection for the past six days.

Initial investigation showed that two unidentified men entered the shop and declared the heist, poking their guns at the face of sales clerk Virginia Sajor, who was manning the counter.

The suspects dragged Sajor inside the main office where gas manager Yollysan Buenaventura, head supervisor Yolanda Hermusora and supervisor Roger Rafael were counting the money.

After scooping all the money, the robbers boarded a blue Honda Wave motorcycle and fled.

Villaflor said all four gas station personnel were being interrogated to shed light on the robbery.

He said they are still conducting follow-up operations to arrest the perpetrators. He could not determine yet if the robbery was an “inside job.”
